Staffer Who Filmed Gay Sex Tape In Senate Hearing Room Did Not Commit A Crime: US Capitol Police

Amy Hamm

The United States Capitol Police has prompted confusion and outrage after announcing today that they have closed their investigation into Aidan Maese-Czeropski, former aide to Democratic Senator Ben Cardin.

Last December, Maese-Czeropski uploaded photos and videos of himself to social media showing he and his older boyfriend engaged in graphic sex acts on a desk in the Hart Senate Office Building.

British outlet The Spectator broke the story after finding the graphic photos and videos posted publicly by Maese-Czeropski on his Instagram. The content depicted unprotected anal sex, with the former staffer on all fours, naked except for a piece of lingerie. According to the Daily Caller, the pornographic video was shared “in a private group for gay men in politics.”

After the story broke, Maese-Czeropski suggested that the backlash was defamatory and a result of homophobia. He claimed that the pornographic videos were “taken out of context” and that he would pursue legal action against those criticizing him. Shortly after, he resigned from his aide position.

Capitol Police then launched an investigation into Maese-Czeropski for possible charges of criminal trespassing or obscenity violations.

In today’s announcement, Capitol Police stated that neither Maese-Czeropski or his boyfriend cooperated with the police investigation.

Regarding any potential criminal charges, they shared that “[a]fter consulting with federal and local prosecutors, as well as doing a comprehensive investigation and review of possible charges, it was determined that — despite a likely violation of Congressional policy — there is currently no evidence that a crime was committed.”

On X, political commentators and citizens compared the Police relation to that against the demonstrators who had entered the Capitol building on January 6, 2021.

“In other news, @SenSchumer is converting the hearing room to a porn studio to help fund Biden’s agenda,” quipped X user @Mayoralpodcast.

Parody account @MerrickGarlands posted a meme accusing the Democrats of “Putting the D in Democracy since 1828.”
